My Income Goal for the Next 12 Months
By Chris on Jul 2, 2006 in Goals
By this time next year, I want to be pulling in an extra £1000 a month through blogs, advertising, or other online ventures. I want to do this as a suppliment to my full-time salary.
Why $1000? Because it works out around £500, which would make a nice difference to our finances - my wife would potentially have to option of not working if she wanted to. Alternatively it would let us look for a larger house in a nice area.
$1000p/m is my new goal - what’s yours and why?

I set mine in dollars at $137 per day, which works out to just baout $50k per annum.
I don’t have a “real job”, so all my earnings come from online efforts. $50k (£28k) is a decent(ish) salary in the UK. Particularly when working less than 10 hours per week for it :D
6 months into the year and I am on track -> http://www.osworld.biz/543/halfway-through-the-year/

On the 20th of January I wrote this:

On my 26th Birthday, 24th Oct 2007 I will buy myself a Ferrari. A cobalt grey one with black and silver trim It will cost me £100,000.
To do this I need to save over £50,000 per year. To do this I will need to make a lot more money than I can earn. I will need to be 100% focused on this dream. I will need to create and run businesses to make money for me. I will need to save hard.
I am prepared to give my car, my flat, 2 years of my life, my job, my possessions, my free time and my wants.
All this I will do.

This is my dream.
I read it every morning and night and I persure it with a passion every day. I have other parts to my “life plan” but this is my goal, my desire and my dream.

@Burty - I read your post the other day. Congrats - that’s good going! I know where I’ll be coming when I need a coach!

Chris: Your being specific is a good thing. Breaking things down to daily earnings is even better, as Burty as has done. I realized this the hard way, over a long period of time.
But reinspired by both your weblog and Steve Pavlina’s, I set new goals for myself earlier this year. I started with $12,000/m but by 3 years time. For this year, I’m focusing on $2,000/m, shortly followed by $3,000/m. That’s just $66/day to start. (And I’m Canadian, so Cdn$2,000/m is even easier to reach when I’m paid in US dollars :)
As soon as I set the smaller goal of $2,000/m, magic happened, and I started getting all kinds of requests to write for other blogs. I’m more than halfway to my goal, and in a couple of weeks, I may actually reach it. (It’s because the $2,000 is easier to believe, for now, than $12,000.)
